This 3-hour practical workshop is designed for care staff supporting individuals with learning disabilities across home and community settings. It provides a clear, structured understanding of learning disability while maintaining a strong focus on practical application in everyday care.
The session explores how differences in cognitive processing, communication, understanding, and adaptive functioning impact a person’s ability to engage with the world around them. Particular attention is given to how these differences influence independence, emotional regulation, behaviour, and participation in daily routines.
Through case studies, discussion, and reflective exercises, participants will be supported to translate knowledge into effective, person-centred support strategies that can be applied immediately in their care roles.
