This Clinical Observations course provides carers with the knowledge and confidence to carry out basic clinical observations safely and accurately, in line with their role and organisational policies. The course introduces common observations such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose (where appropriate), and explains why monitoring these is important for maintaining health and identifying early signs of deterioration.
The course emphasises person-centred care, infection prevention and control, accurate measurement, and the importance of understanding what is normal for each individual. Carers will learn how to recognise changes in a person’s condition, respond appropriately to abnormal results, and report concerns clearly and promptly. The training supports carers to work within their competence, uphold duty of care, and contribute effectively to multidisciplinary care.
